First Easter Egg Hunt

Last Saturday we went over to Josh's sister's house and had a good old fashioned Easter egg hunt! We arrived a little late due to Holden's nap...but as soon as we got there we got right into the egg dying! Holden had a little trouble holding on to the eggs, and most of his were cracked:-) He didn't even seem to realize they weren't supposed to crack...maybe thats because he is always watching us crack ours over the pan when we cook them?
After the eggs dried we put some stickers on them...MJ thought this was great fun...Holden thought it was fun to sticker himself:-) He's only one people!

When it came time to hunt...Holden found a few and then was done...more overwhelmed with people running around and people telling him to look places and go places...he just roamed around after MJ...But MJ loved it...she looked around and collected her eggs...getting more excited by the minute!

He loves carrying his basket...trust me it took every ounce of whatever to squash down my aversion to this Easter basket and let grandmere buy Holden the basket he picked out...I have this beautiful big wood Easter basket from when I was a kid...the problem is it is in my parents attic...and they live far enough away, we usually fly...so we don't have it yet...and when we went to look Holden saw this one, and yelled, "Basset Ball" and wouldn't put it down...so now he has a basket ball Easter basket...fun!
I'm not sure if it was the hunt or the candy...but MJ was certainly pepped up after the hunt...she was running and jumping and skipping all over the place...Holden tried to keep up...but he's not quite as fast or agile yet:-)

Here is Holden examining his loot...He opened the egg containing jelly beans and immediately said, "yogurt beans" which are yogurt covered raisins he gets from his grandmere...he has never seen jelly beans...and has yet to taste any of his candy...he is still too young to know what it is...so it is in the cupboard for mom and dad to eat...won't last long I am sure...this whole not knowing thing...As when MJ came over the next day she wanted to look for the candy in Holden's eggs and wanted to know where I put it!

So much fun watching things through the eyes of a child!

So as we celebrate the sacrifice that Christ made on the cross for us...May your day be filled with love, laughter, and family...and may we always remember what Jesus did and what it means to live in relationship with our God.

Happy Easter
