Tricycle Tales

Yikes! It's been almost 2 weeks since I posted! I have a lot to catch up on!
MJ got a trike for Christmas...Holden was too young then...So we waited, well we were going to wait until his 2nd birthday. But then he got so into hers, and the weather is so nice we thought, why not give it to him now...So this is his Trike story...thanks grnadmere and grandpere!

First a little background...when the grands gave a trike to MJ, grnadpere got all into it, wrapped up the empty box (the trike requires assembly) and hid the trike in the garage...now I wasn't there so I can't attest to her reaction but here is Holden's...

The above pic, shows how he methodically removed piece by tiny piece of wrapping paper and handed it off...Seriously I have 10 shots of these and I finally gave up because he was no where close to finishing...apparently his dad was/is like that!

Here he encountered the newspaper...not to be disappointed he pulled out page by page and said, " read da mahazin" (read the magazine) for EVERY page...

Meanwhile daddy put the trike outside...he never felt cheated by only getting a box...in fact, we had to coax him outside away from the "magazines" and the box...

Here he sees it...we all felt he lacked the excitement we had anticipated...we wouldn't find out until the next morning just why this excitement was missing...

And he's riding it! Well sort of its hard when your not quite two to figure out your feet and actually reach the pedals!

About the excitement...So the next morning Tom got up with Holden and when they came into the dining room where the trike was parked
Holden: "Kemma left her bike" Kemma is MJ to Holden...
Tom: "what?"
Holden repeated: "Kemma forgot bike"
Tom, "no Holden this is Holden's bike"
...silence...

Next we head out the door for our Saturday morning coffee shop run, and the box with the newspapers is outside...
Holden: "Oh! My new box" as he proceeds to tear it open and start getting out the newspapers...
guess he didn't get it...

In fact he didn't get it until, MJ brought her bike over and he saw both side by side...then he said, "Holden's bike!" with a big smile and shriek!

Now he always reminds us, "Holden's bike!"

...even at MJ's house when the bike is hers:-)
It's fun to have an almost 2 year old!
