6 Months, sitting up, and first cereal

Holden had his 6 month check up on Friday...can you believe it has already been 6 months? wow time flies! Anyway, despite having a nasty cold...which the Dr. said "who doesn't right now?" he is doing well...He was 28" long, 15lbs 8 oz...and his head was 43cm...so my little string bean is still that a string bean...
The Dr. asked if he was sitting up yet...I said not for long periods of time...The Dr. then said "yeah, it starts with a few seconds, then all of the sudden it is half a minute, then a minute, then several minutes, then they are toppling over as they reach for toys, and then they start moving towards the toys" Tom looked at me and said, "well I guess he sits up then", because he sits on his own for several minutes until he reaches too far for a toy and topples over...here we were thinking it wasn't very long...shows what we know...

He loves to sit and play with the shape sorter...he basically pulls all the blocks out and then we put them back and then it starts again...

The Dr. also said we should be giving him solids...so I started with rice cereal on Saturday...he really seemed to like it, and today I made it a little thicker and he still ate a bunch! So I think he is ready and will like eating...

Of course I have to get over the fact that it grosses me out when he smears food on his face, in his hair, all over the tray, and some somehow gets on the floor...oh no! Do I really have a child! It's crazy! But great...Here he is showing off his 2 teeth, which are all he has right now...but currently his upper gums are swollen and we can see the white bumps of the teeth...ouch!

Boy, does that kid have a contagious smile! Even just looking at the pictures I couldn't help but smile back.

You will definitely get used to the mess after a little while. Cleaning up is always a bit of a pain, but eventually I realized that almost everything is indeed cleanable, so as long as nothing is being destroyed (with paint or permanent marker, for instance) then why stress about it?

What a great smile! I love the pictures of him! You can just see his character in every picture! Had to laugh about the food grossing you out, I am quite certain I will feel the same way!

What a smiley happy guy! He really does have a contagious smile.
I have a diaper question, if you don't mind. How many cloth diapers do you have? We are trying to decide how many we need and we are at a loss.
