Happy New Year!

Ok so for as long as I can remember I have watched the Rose Parade on New Years Day…But this year Tom’s sister wanted to go hiking in the morning…A much better idea after the appetizers and dessert I ate on New Years Eve:-) So we went hiking…it was fun! We got out there about 10am…it was nice in the sun…VERY cold in the shade…Can you tell we are all having fun!
My guys gearing up for the hike! Really it was very family friendly…flat on a dirt road…only about 1.5 miles…so no big deal…a nice easy morning walk:-)
Doesn’t Holden look cool;-P

That is a great idea to start the year with. We went for several walks around the neighborhood during the holidays, but didn't make the effort to go hiking anywhere.

Part of the problem is that we're not all that familiar with where to go. Where was it that you hiked at?

We go by the American River...at the confluence...you go into Auburn and take 49 like you were going to Cool...not towards Grass Valley...we did the quarry "hike" pretty easy...you turn right towards cool and there is a parking lot on your left...otherwise you can park along the road and there are a bunch of trails...the quarry one is the most "stroller" friendly...but we usually load up Holden and carry him instead of trying to bring a stroller...

How fun! I wish there were some hiking trails near us!

You should try cereal with Holden. I kept putting it off b/c I didn't think Brody was ready...but my mom bought some rice cereal for him. She said she was buying snacks for everyone else and didn't want to leave him out! lol. I was SHOCKED at how much he liked it! I used breastmilk rather than water to make the cereal and I think that helped a lot. I've been giving it to him after nursing (maybe twice a day). I found that he didn't nurse as long if I fed him the cereal first. Be sure and blog about it when he tries it!!!

Hi Anna,

Looks like a super fun day. Thanks for giving us directions. Maybe we can all go sometime.

At what size can you turn the kiddo around in a Bjorn? Is it when they can hold their head up? I'd love to be able to do this as the other way ticks Emily off.
