Gourmet Produce:-)

So this week Beth and I took the kids to Del Rio Botanical...it is a farm that has CSA shares...CSA is Consumer Supported Agriculture, basically you can get produce boxes straight from the farm on a weekly basis, for a fee...The draw is that this farm is local AND organic...nice for us and for the earth:-) Below are some pictures I took of the box we got...Ours was a sample box, had some stuff in it we didn't know what it was...or what to do with...but we picked the "sushi" box week to have our sample...maybe not the best time...oh well...We got things like wasabi leaves, and a bunch of greens I couldn't pronounce...BUT we also got apricots, green beans (which were awesome!), squash, quail eggs, strawberries, lemon verbena (which we have a ton of in our backyard:-) BUT I never would have made tea out of it if I hadn't gotten the suggestion in my box...and it is yummy tea), and radishes...

Anyway, the kids had a blast...We got to see the farm, and then we saw, baby chicks, chickens, roosters, goats (mamas and babies), bunnies, quail, koi fish, and Holden's favorite their trusty herding dog:-) Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures at the farm...can you believe it? Geesh...oh well you have to trust me they had fun...and MJ has been talking about the animals we saw ever since:-)

If you are interested in finding your own CSA farm you can look here, I think it is great to support local farmers and to have locally grown produce on your table:-) Trust me we don't always...

So since I posted all this produce...I thought I would share some of the suburban produce we get in our backyard:-) Below are the blueberries we grow...honestly we do absolutely nothing to them and they grow in an area where they shouldn't (its totally shaded)..but year after year we get some...now for 3 plants we don't get a ton...but enough to pick and eat:-) YUM! Holden loves them too...
